Are You Ready?

It was days before Winter
and all through the wood house
not a creature was stirring
not even a mouse

The wood was all stacked
in rows with great care
in hopes that the wood stove
would warm up Winters cold air....

The wood shed is full and I think we are ready to go, are you?

  3. It's looking good!!!! We haven't even started using our woodstove. I really hate using it because it makes the house so dry and dirty - wood chips everywhere. But it is so nice and toasty. Today is COLD; the first freezing night was last night. So I bet we'll crank up the stove next week. Only thing is that we had birds living in the chimney over the summer - chimney sweeps. They moved on with their migration now, but I hope they didn't leave nests behind that could cause a fire???? It's always something... :)

  5. Autumn - We can't have bird feeders because they attract bears!

Christine - Snow to the North South East and West of us....it is just a matter of time.

Lynn - Hard to believe you have had snow and snow melts already. Nothing more comforting than a warn fire.

Niece - Collecting and splitting wood is hard but worth it!

  6. Love it! We're already using our stove. Toasty warm! :) I'm actually looking forward to freezing weather. It makes it so much easier to split wood for next year! :)

  7. Rae - That is the only reason I think the Commander splits the wood, he enjoys sitting by the fire too!

  8. Cute :) We are getting ready, have about 3 cords of the 6 we need in :) Not split - just rounds. Still work ahead, but progress is being made. This was so cute!

  9. Looks like a great stash of wood! We will crank up the wood stove in a few weeks when the temps start to dip. We are still enjoying nice autumn weather around our parts. But a cozy fire is starting to sound really good.

  10. LuckyBunny - I'm not sure how much a cord is but I know we burned everything we had last year, I sure hope this is enough!

Brenna - We live by the wood stove when the real cold sets in, I'm talking the -20F and below cold!
