These Pictures are NSFW!

Addison and Becca Boo are about two weeks from delivering so last week they got their CDT shots and a little other attention. Earlier this month they had their hooves trimmed, so I gave their feet a quick check and moved on to more important things. Their eyelids looked nice and red so no worm problems were present and their fur was crisp and clean, no parasites to be seen.

All that was left to do was to give them a quick shave in the udder area so that the kids would have unrestricted access to the umm, milk areas.

This shot is definitely Not Safe For Work! Addison is starting to get a nice udder going and it looks to be filling with milk nicely. Note Addy's piercing blue eyes as she peeks back modestly.

Becca Boo was next and she didn't like me using the shaver around her at all. Doesn't she know this look is all the rage?

One day I think Becca looks bigger and on the next I go with Addy, this isn't the greatest picture and Becca's tricolor makes it harder to discern the area in question. This is my first time shaving, how did I do?

  3. I've never shaved the girls, and their kids don't seem to have any problem. It looks good to me though.

  7. Luckybunny - They have really bagged up quickly this last week, must be getting close.

Verde - I love her eyes too, hope her babies have blue ones too.

Teresa - Maybe it is a Nigerian thing? I am doing it because it seems to be the norm for this breed.

Michaele - I try my best.

Farmer - Should I be trimming the sheep too?

Leontien - I left some fur because it is still cold here.

  8. yes we do,it makes things a whole lot easier when trying to get the little one to nurse and also during lambing.Usually we try to shear them before hand but if not crutching is the way to go.

  10. This sounds weird but in the past we have even trimmed up some of the longer haired cats. Not only for easier access but to keep the hair from gunking up with splattered milk.
It grows back and is just easier to keep clean and look out for problems.

  11. Well, hello there, Mr. Commander, sir! :-)
Now, did you ever in your wildest dreams think you'd be posting pics of goat udders on the Internet and discussing size? LOL
Nice job on the sanitary shave! :-)

  12. OFG - Goats! You know this is all your fault right?

Farmer - I'm torn now, I may let the sheep try it on their own this first year as they are so unhelpful.

Barb - Looking forward to you guys visiting.

Dogsmom - I agree with the logic, if only everyone around here was as easy to handle as cats (less the claws).

Danni - That is the Commander alright. I have to go back and read some of these posts just to make sure they actually happened and I didn't dream the whole thing.

  13. Fantastic trim! I have Saanens and Boers and the ones that are easier to wrestle than alligators get a trim here too. Thankfully I had already trimmed Shirley because she delivered her first one stillborn and ended up with a uterine infection. I was grateful that she was shaved when it came time to clean all that smelly gunk off her! I hope to see pics of kids with those beautiful blue eyes soon!

  14. Michelle - I am so sorry for your loss. I can understand the wrestling part, that is why I'm not even going to try the sheep. I am really hoping for blue eyes, but I will of course settle for healthy. Pictures will be coming.
