Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! Our Christmas tree is decorated with old wooden ornaments, candy canes, beads, and a few bulbs. We like the old fashioned feeling it gives, its kind of warm.

The kids made sugar Christmas cookies today - yum. I will be making gingerbread cookies tonight, for Santa of course....

The chickens have been laying like crazy, 11 eggs in the last two days. We are eating them as fast a we can but they are piling up. I guess that is a good problem. Maybe it is the tip I picked from Lynn over at Razzberry Corner, she posted about feeding her hens spaghetti and that is exactly what I do every day at lunch. I mix in a little yogurt, so maybe that is helping them lay so much?

  1. Merry Christmas!!!
My hens still love spaghetti! I haven't given it to them lately, though! Maybe I should! They had it last winter, and I swore that was the secret to keeping them laying all winter long! It kept them fat during the cold months, too. Our hens have been doing quite well with laying this winter, despite not having their spaghetti - today we got 9 eggs from 13 laying hens and 2 pullets. We average about 8 or 9 eggs/day.

Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!!!

  2. Thank you Lynn, we got six eggs today from eight layers - your spaghetti trick works wonders.
