Silence of the Lambs

The lambs are silent because they still refuse to be born! The picture of Azalia above does not do her justice, her lamb has dropped and her tummy is huge. Her delicate condition didn't stop her from slipping down underneath the gate to escape into the yard twice today! I had a log at the foot of the gate to stop her escapes but she pushed it away, so I replaced it with a bigger log in hopes of preventing future breakouts.

With no pictures of pretty little lambs I leave you with a shot of the Amish bread that the Commander has been making lately. This bread is very moist and airy with a sweet taste, it's delicious. The best thing is that you can have hot delicious bread from the oven in 2 short hours.

If you want the recipe follow this link to AllRecipes, you won't regret it.

  1. No babies yet???? :( Soon, hopefully! Good luck, I hope the lambs will be born strong and healthy with no complications! I'm on the edge of my seat!

  2. Ooo...I've been making Amish bread for a few years...I get requests to bring it to friends houses...EVERYONE loves it! Too bad wheat makes me break out in hives :/ meh.
Today is the beginning of my lambing season...I have sheep out there that look like balloons with legs..they are HUGE this year! I've been vulva peeking...a couple look close..and some of their bags are HUGE. Anytime now. :D

  3. We seem to be playing the same waiting game! One of our newly acquired 8 pregnant ewes spent every minute she could laying down, stretching, and appears to have dropped. We struggled to get her into a secluded pen, but she broke out of it to be with her sisters. Haha.

(This is our first time ever lambing, so we're a bit overly excited.)

Hopefully yours lamb soon, too! Looks like Azalia's going to have a whole little. Wow! Good luck! :)

  4. Lynn - After the nightmare last year I am really hoping for healthy easy births!

Stace - As you previously noted by using the "V" word on your blog you will increase page views. If you post pictures you may not be the only one "peeking". I can't believe how huge these Icelandic sheep get!

Anthony - This is my second year and I'm just as excited as last year! I'm going to have to stop by to see how your girls are doing.
